“I thank God for Maama’s recovery and salute the medical staff, as well as our children, Muhoozi, Natasha, Patience and Diana, who stood with her throughout,” Museveni said in a statement posted on X.

The First Lady had stayed away from public engagements for months after falling ill in March. Her appearance at her daughter’s consecration marked her return to a major public event.

Museveni also celebrated Patience’s elevation, describing it as an important milestone for a family whose formal connection to the Church dates back decades.

He said Christianity reached his home area many years ago, but his father, Amos Kaguta, only joined the Church in 1947.

“Today, I have a whole Bishop in the family,” Museveni said.

The President also thanked Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Bishop LaDonna Osborn for attending the consecration.

He urged religious leaders to focus Christianity on improving people’s lives. He said the faith should heal the sick, feed the hungry and free people from bondage, in line with the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Museveni congratulated Patience and wished her strength and wisdom as she begins her new role.

“I congratulate Bishop Patience and wish her strength and wisdom as she takes on this new responsibility,” he said.
