She was among the few people who were allowed access to see the 36-year-old MP at a military facility where he is receiving treatment under the watchful eye of security operatives.

Barbie says her husband is in pain and "we nearly lost him". She wonders "how he is still alive after such treatment".

In a chilling statement issued on Friday, Bobi Wine's wife says he can't stand on his own and has a deformed face.

"At first sight, it is very unlikely that you would recognize him. You may not understand this unless if you see him. His forehead is bruised and his eyes are red. He has many wounds including one on his ear," she wrote.

Barbie claims that her husband could have been punched several times because "his forehead is bruised and his eyes are red".

Great pain

He was reportedly carried into the room where his wife was able to see him for the first time since his arrest on Monday in Arua.

His wife says he can't sit straight and has difficulty speaking and breathing.

The self-proclaimed Ghetto President was allegedly tortured, according to statements from his lawyers and wife.

Bloodstain on his body is still visible, his wife says, adding that he bled a lot through the ears and nose.

"He is in such a terrible state and in need of urgent medical attention," the wife said in a statement.

Paying the price
