Global video and music streaming company Tidal on Wednesday launched in Uganda, East Africa.
Tidal has partnered with telecommunication giant MTN Uganda in a major move that commences its first operation in Africa.
The partnership will give access to MTN's 10.5 million Ugandan subscribers to Tidal's streaming plans.
“Africa is a continent that has long been an inspiration for music heard around the world and TIDAL is excited to highlight the vibrant musicians on our platform. TIDAL is also thrilled to bring a new wave of digital music to Uganda as part of this collaboration” Lior Tibon, COO TIDAL said.

Tidal will offer a free 30-day trial to first time members (MTN customers) and will give them options membership options of one, three, seven and 30-day streaming plan.
The partnership will also subscribers experience a variety of options for a data-inclusive Tidal membership through integration with their mobile plan to access quality music and videos.
Collaboration with local musicians
The streaming service will collaborate with local musicians to beef its already vast catalogue. It's expected to host a collaboration conference on September 27th where musicians will learn about the streaming service and how they can work on projects together.
“The Collaboration Conference will exclusively be attended by artists, music producers and promoters. The conference aims to bring artists together to learn about the evolution of the music industry across the globe and how to expand locally along with the help of TIDAL. Following the conference, “The MTN TIDAL Experience”, featuring dancehall artist Kranium, Nigeria’s DJ Spinall, our very own Beenie Gunter and local DJs are set to host the experience which will be held at the MTN Headquarters," MTN's CMO said on Thursday
