It’s very easy for one to take advantage of their parents – even when one doesn’t intend to.
You get a well-paying job, move out and start your own life as if you didn’t have another life before.
You get so engrossed in your new life that you forget about the people that made that life possible in the first place – which sucks.
Whether you have a bad gut feeling that you haven’t been doing right by your parents or not, there are little things that every adult child can do to make sure that their parents are appreciated.
1.Spend time with them
Spend time with your parents so that they don’t feel neglected. They get lonely too. If you are unable to do so, give them a call to see how they are doing. It is believed that calling them often can make them live longer.
2.Cook dinner with or for them
When you visit them, make a point of getting in the kitchen to make a meal with your mother – for the daughters – or make your father his favorite meal.
There’s nothing better to bring people together like food.
3.Fix their car/house
Take your dad’s car for service or revamp your mom’s kitchen. They’ll really appreciate it.
4.Do their house shopping
I don’t think there’s any adult child that goes back home without house shopping for their parents.
5.Ask them for advice
Yes, you are an adult and can make your own choices but never hesitate to seek advice from your parents. Let them be a part of your life.
