Ugandan socialite and model, Paulyne Asiimwe, has clapped back at online critics who, days ago, trolled the aesthetics of her bedroom at her parents’ home.

Pauline, who also goes by Paulynne Thickiana, became an overnight sensation in August last year when she joined Congolese singer Ya Levis on stage for a raunchy dance at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The 24-year-old recently posted a series of “Get Ready With Me (GRWM)” videos on her TikTok account, which sparked the heated exchange.

The videos recorded in her bedroom featured her transition from a towel wrap to a fabulous outfit, a pair of form-fitting beige pants and a black top with a blackless design.

But what caught many people’s attention was what was in her background.

Viewers quickly noticed the simple bedroom setting, which included a cement floor, a checked curtain, an old wall clock, which some pointed out wasn't working, and a basic wooden bed with unembellished beddings.

The revelation of her humble surroundings sparked a range of reactions from the public.

Some critics ridiculed the room, with one user commenting, “My dad still has that same clock in your house,” and another saying, “Is that your room?”

One user sought to contrast Asiimwe’s known flashy nightlife with her life at home, writing, “The struggle can be real.”

However, many fans rallied behind Paulyne, praising her for being authentic and unashamed of her background.

One supporter wrote, “Girls, this is what a home should look like,” while another said, “I love how real you are.”

Paulyne Defends Her Choices

In response to the backlash, Paulyne posted a video explaining the situation, clarifying that she lives with her parents and supports the choices they have made for their home.

She stated, “What I am not going to put up with is those who slam those choices because you think you would do it differently. I am glad that you want to voice your opinions, but those opinions are not needed here.”

Paulyne made it clear that she was comfortable in her life and would not let negative comments derail her.
