Amapiano is the youngest in this musical genealogy, borrowing elements from its predecessors while very much looking into the future. Along with its signature log-drum sounds and jazz-inflected keys the “piano” in Amapiano, its different styles may be infused with the melodies of kwaito or the thumping beats of techno.
Over the past year, Amapiano has burst onto the mainstream like other genres that preceded it. It thrived in local clubs, radio stations and televisions.
Ugandan rapper, Daniel Kigozi aka Navio, has also jumped on the “Amapiano” trend in his latest song ‘Raha’.
Raha is a new single off his album dubbed “Vibes out the East.” The song, which was exclusively on Boom Play, has already hit 80,000 views on YouTube and is already trending on several music sites.
The song was produced by Amapiano beats producer, Daxochali. Over the years, Navio has continued to prove his diversity in different music genres, exploring RnB, dancehall and bax ragga.
Amapiano is his latest, and given the reception Raha has received, we can say Navio has mastered his art.
