The girls went off the radar early this year, following a disagreement with Theron Music, the record label that managed them.

Upon their return last month, they rebranded to K$K and have been sharing bits about what went wrong.

In an interview on Saturday night, the girls revealed that they were severely cash-strapped, and without any means of transport.

We need to get some money; we need a car because now we are back on (bodabodas),” said Kandle, real name Hadiijah Namakula.

Before we can even think about a concert, you guys need to support us. We need you to book us and stream our music.”

Kataleya and Kandle left Theron Music for various reasons, but the most shocking was that the record label, owned by David Kalemera, had installed cameras inside their apartment to monitor them.

This development was revealed by Eddy Kenzo, who had dropped them there and was invited inside.

Reports indicate that the fallout between the duo and management happened in November 2023, just three months after the launch of their Extended Play titled Call It Love.

The ladies in the interview last night, said they were grateful to their fans who showed them love during the rough spell.

When we were going through this situation, that was when we realised how much people loved us. We saw love on social media, everyone was asking where we had gone. It encouraged us a lot because it was a very hurtful situation we were going through but the messages, phone calls, the replies, they encouraged us a lot.”

The girls, during that period, managed to team up with Vinka for a single, “Tompa” which has been doing relatively well in stremans and airplay.
