Munyagwa was arrested on Tuesday June 5, by police along with 5 other people, on charges of trespass and property damage.
The Kajjansi Chief Magistrate’s Court remanded the former MP and his co-accused to Luzira Prison until June 12th.
Mubiru said the reports that his best friend had been remanded, appeared to have triggered Lubwama’s chest compilations.
“He had just come from the sauna and he was at MM Pub (in Kabusu), when he got the news that Munyagwa had been remanded. He bent forward and appeared to lose his breath,” Mubiru narrated.
“His condition continued to deteriorate until his friends decided to take him to a Stabuwa’s hospital. But by the time they got there he was dead. I found when he was still warm but there was no pulse in his body.”
Mubiru described Munyagwa as Kato Lubwama’s best friend along with Kampala Central MP Mohammed Nsereko.
“Even when he (Lubwama) left parliament, these are the two people that he visited and talked to almost on a daily basis,” he said.
Lubwama’s body will be brought to the National Theater where fellow artists will pay tribute to him for seven straight days. He will be laid to rest on Wednesday June 14th at his ancestral home in Nkozi.
