This was confirmed by the examinations board after securing an appointment to brief the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni, who is also the First Lady.
According to the brief seen by this reporter, the 2023 PLE results will be released on Thursday, January 25 at State House Nakasero. This will be preceded by a meeting between officials from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) and education minister on Wednesday, January 24 at the same venue.
Irene Kauffman, the senior private secretary to the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, said the exams will be released at 11:00 A.M.
Education officials invited to attend both the briefing and release of the 2023 PLE results have been directed to take a COVID-19 test on Tuesday, January 23 at Mulago Platinum Centre from 9 A.M. - 3 P.M.
UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule had earlier this week told the media that they had written to Janet Museveni, requesting an appointment for a briefing before releasing the results.
The Board is supposed to brief the Minister of Education about the performance of learners before the results are released to the public. After the results are released, the selection exercise will then commence.
The Senior One selection exercise is usually conducted at the premises of the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) in Lugogo, Kampala, where headteachers select candidates for their respective schools depending on the set cut-off points.
A total of 749,347 pupils sat for PLE in 2023, including 391,558 females and 357,789 males.
