Night Grace, 44, a resident of Luweero town council, and Stephen Bainomugisha aged 35 years and a resident of Kifumula village in Hoima district appeared before Buganda Road Court grade one magistrate, Fidelis Otwao and denied being common nuisances.
The trial magistrate sent them on remand until February 2nd, 2023 for mention of the case.
It is alleged that on January 11, 2023, at Nakasero in Kampala, the two annoyed and inconvenienced presidential guards in the exercise of walking without any identification cards thereby concluded to be common nuisances.
In 2021, it was reported that at least 51 people were reported by relatives to have disappeared were in the custody of the Special Forces Command (SFC). This was revealed by President Museveni following swathes of criticism towards security government agencies.
In a February 23, 2021, letter State House issued by State House, Gen Museveni, who doubles as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, said the suspects had been misled by criminally-minded groups to engage in treasonous plots.
However following weeks of interrogations, the President noted that the missing persons had become friends of the State because they helped “to expose the whole criminal scheme of elements of the opposition plus their local parasite and foreign backers”.
Uganda’s security organs have severally been under criticism for their errant behavior including beating up of people.
