Ugandan media personality and entrepreneur Manuela Mulondo recently shared the unforgettable experience of spending over 30 minutes with former President Barack Obama.
Speaking during a church service at Worship House Church, Mulondo recalled the moment in 2018 when she was selected as part of the Obama Fellows programme.
Obama had just concluded his visit to Kenya and was on his way to South Africa, where he invited 200 leaders to participate in a prestigious gathering.
Mulondo explained how she was chosen from Uganda to attend the Obama Foundation Leaders Africa Summit held at the Africa Leadership Academy.

“We applied for this programme, and I was the one selected from Uganda,” she said.
During the summit, Obama was presented with a variety of innovative ideas and business ventures from young African leaders. Out of the many impressive projects, Mulondo’s work stood out, and Obama personally selected her business idea as the best.
“I was selected to invite him on stage, and I had the privilege to have over 30 minutes with him and engage in conversation,” she added

Mulondo’s initiative, The Cradle, focuses on helping mothers balance their careers and childcare, enabling them to reach their full potential in the workplace.

“Through our work, more mothers are able to sit in boardrooms, in parliament, in cockpits,” she explained,
The centre has played a significant role in supporting women in various sectors, including business, healthcare, and even the army, particularly during times of crisis such as epidemics.
