Museveni, who left the country on Wednesday, May 15, traveled to East Africa's largest economy to strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting began with a private discussion between the two leaders, allowing them to address mutual interests and explore cooperation opportunities.

Following this, Museveni and William Ruto engaged in bilateral talks with officials from their respective governments.

These discussions aimed to enhance collaboration in various sectors, including transport and infrastructure, trade and investment, immigration, regional integration, peace and security, and the fight against terrorism.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the signing of a tripartite agreement concerning the importation and transit of refined petroleum products from Kenya to Uganda.

This agreement enables the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) to directly import refined commodities from producers in different jurisdictions.

This breakthrough is expected to resolve challenges in Uganda's petroleum sector, leading to increased efficiency and reliability.

During the press briefing after the bilateral talks, President Museveni expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for the invitation to discuss mutual interests.

He emphasised the importance of bilateral cooperation in promoting regional development and stability.

President Museveni stressed the need for continued collaboration to address common challenges and seize growth opportunities.

He provided context to the agreements and protocols signed in the joint communique, noting their alignment with historical missions.

President Ruto expressed optimism about the signed instruments, emphasising their role in solidifying the strong relations between Kenya and Uganda.

He highlighted the transformative potential of the agreements, stating that both leaders are committed to maximizing benefits for their countries and citizens.
