The opposition leader arrived on Thursday morning at Entebbe International Airport, from where he was grabbed from the plane by security officers and driven at break-neck speed to his home in Magere.
Police said in a statement that Bobi Wine had been “successfully escorted by our security team from Entebbe to his home in Magere.”
“He reached his home around 11.20am and is with his family and friends. Disregard rumors of his arrest by propagandists,” the police announced in a statement.
Meanwhile, shortly after his return, Bobi Wine exchanged with Police officers who had camped inside his home.
In a viral video, the NUP boss is seen chasing a team of about seven policemen armed with guns and riot gear.
Bobi Wine, flanked by his wife Barbie and Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga ordered the officers to “get out my compound” as he filmed them with his mobile phone.
After a short while, the officers folded and walked towards the gate.
According to Barbie Itungo, the officers cut the electric wire fence and jumped over the fence. She demanded that the police pay for the damage.
Since early this week, plans had been in motion to give Bobi Wine a big welcome from the airport by his supporters.
The Police warned last night that they would not allow a procession from the airport.
Some people were arrested last night and early this morning along Entebbe Road by police and the army, whose personnel were deployed heavily along the highway.
