Who is Juliana Kanyomozi?

Born on November 27, 1980, in Kampala to Prince Gerald Manyindo and Catherine Manyindo, Juliana grew up in the capital. She attended Bugema Adventist Secondary School for Senior One before joining Namasagali College.

Her father, a music lover who played drums, passed down her talent.

At Namasagali, headteacher Father Damian Grimes spotted her singing a Mariah Carey song and urged her to join dance classes.

By 16, she was performing karaoke. Her brother, Eddie Kim, a deejay at Sabrina’s Pub, convinced their father to let her perform there, owned by producer Hope Mukasa. During her S.6 vacation, she became a regular performer.

At Sabrina’s, she met Steve Jean, who produced her first song and an album with Iryn Namubiru as I-Jay. She recorded her debut track during A-Level. Her collaboration with Bobi Wine on Tata W’abaana and Mama Mbire became massive hits.

During her S.6 vacation, Juliana also worked as a radio host at Capital FM for six years. She later acted in the movie Kiwani, created by Henry Ssali, a former Daily Monitor entertainment writer and PR firm owner.
