Gagamel Entertainment boss Bebe Cool has opened up on what drove him to cut short his stint as a radio presenter.

The celebrated Ugandan musician, whose real name is Moses Ssali, was a presenter at Capital Radio in 2003, where he hosted KT-20, a weekend chart show.

His deep, husky voice made him a natural for radio, but his stint in the industry was short-lived, lasting just under a year.

The Reason Behind His Departure

During an interview on NRG Radio today, Tuesday, Bebe Cool shared why he decided to step away from radio.

He explained that he was concerned about how frequently his voice was being heard on air.

He feared that fans might get used to his voice and grow less interested in his music.

“I had to leave because I was concerned about having my voice on air,” he said.

“I did not want people to get used to my voice…I felt like that would affect my music. I thought when people get used to my voice, if I put out any song it won’t be any sweet,” he said.

A Conflict of Interest

Bebe Cool also spoke about why he never played his own songs on the popular weekend show.

At the time, he was already a big name in the Ugandan music scene.

However, his role as a presenter, he said, limited his ability to promote his own music.

KT-20 was a global music chart countdown, meaning he could not play his own songs on the show.

“I had to do research about the very top music in the world. It was the best countdown, and so I could not fit my own music into that,” he added.
