Led by Permanent Secretary Bagiire Vincent Waiswa, the delegation comprises senior MoFA personnel, heads of mission, and technical experts from Ugandan embassies in Dar es Salaam, Paris, Beijing, and Abu Dhabi.
This industry immersion trip, hosted by the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), aims to equip diplomats with firsthand knowledge about the country's oil and gas sector and related mineral development programs. This initiative strengthens collaboration between MoFA and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
Combating Misinformation and Promoting Transparency
The MoFA prioritizes attracting investment in four key sectors: agro-processing, tourism, mineral development, and science and technology transfer.
Highlighting the importance of countering misinformation surrounding Uganda's mineral sector, Mr. Bagiire emphasized the need for diplomats to be well-versed in the industry to provide accurate information and effectively address concerns abroad.

Focus on Responsible Development and Community Engagement
Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa Sentamu commended the MoFA for this proactive approach. She urged the delegation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Albertine Graben projects, including their economic and social impact on local communities, environmental considerations, and adherence to international standards. Minister Sentamu encouraged face-to-face interactions with project-affected communities to gather firsthand experiences.
Witnessing Progress on the Ground
The itinerary includes visits to critical infrastructure projects like the East African Crude Oil Pipeline route, the Ugandan Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), and the Kingfisher development project in Kikuube district. Witnessing drilling activities and waste management practices will provide valuable insights. The delegation will also visit the Kabalega Industrial Park and feeder pipeline activities, highlighting potential investment opportunities.
