KCCA FC star Ibrahim Juma seals move to Madrid

From playing football in the slums of Mbale to Naguru, and finally to Madrid, Spain, Ibrahim Juma has been unveiled.

Uganda Cranes left back and highly rated youngster Juma has been officially unveiled by Madrid city-based club Deportivo Leganes joining from Kampala City Council Authority Football Club on loan with option to buy.

CD Leganes competes in the Spanish Segunda, the second-tier football league after the La Liga and they sit seventh on the table with 33 points from 22 games.

Juma will join the youth team of the club for his professional development, the club stated

“Ibrahim Juma is ready for the challenge. The left-back will join @CanteraPepinera in this transfer window”, the club tweeted.

CD Leganes earned promotion to the La Liga in the 2015–16 season thus becoming the fifth team from Community of Madrid to ever play in La Liga after Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, and Getafe.

They played in the top-flight for four consecutive seasons and during this time, they reached a peak finish of 13th place and also qualified to the Copa del Rey semi-finals eliminating Real Madrid with a famous 2-1 win at Santiago Bernabeu in 2018.

Juma is currently in the U20 camp at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru awaiting the U20 Africa Cup of Nations final squad selection.

Juma recently featured for the Uganda Cranes in the CHAN qualifiers first leg against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

The left back also was the captain of the KCCA FC U20 side that won the inaugural edition of the Cambiasso Rainbow U20 tournament in Tanzania.

The latest transfer means he joins the growing list of Ugandan youngsters who have secured moves abroad including former teammate Sadat Anaku, Musa Ramadhan, Steven Sserwada, Aziz Kayondo and Mustafa Kizza.
