The Jinja-based company will be injecting a total of Shs. 450 million to facilitate different activities during the preparations and the wedding itself.

The wedding, in which the Busoga King Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula will exchange marital vows with his Queen Jovia Mutesi is set for November 18, 2023.

The NBL Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Njuki while announcing the contribution at the Busoga Lukiiko grounds in Bugembe, said it was inevitable for the company to lead the way in facilitating this historic event.

When we first heard of the royal wedding, we knew right away that we had to play a part,” Njuki said.

"NBL and Busoga Kingdom have moved together since 1951 when we were founded. We believe that even though this is a wedding for the king of Busoga, it is also for the whole country and we expect that it will unite us all and market Busoga and its culture."

Part of the Shs. 450 million, Njuki said will be sent directly to the wedding organizing committee, while some of it will go to other activities including a mass media advertising campaign that will see several ads run in the media, and on billboard on major roads and highways.

NBL will also be producing specially branded beers for the wedding and will set up bars at all the 12 venues where the wedding will be streamed live across the kingdom.

Speaking at the event, the Busoga Kingdom Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala thanked Nile Breweries for the generous contribution.

I want to thank Mr Njuki who invited me to his office and we had a discussion whose fruits we are all witnessing today,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hon Justine Kasule Lumumba, the Minister for General Duties and member of the wedding organizing committee, announced that next week there will be a royal banquet to be held ahead of the wedding.

The banquet is scheduled for Friday October 27 at the Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, starting at 6pm.

Tickets to the banquet go for Shs. 500,000 and are already on sale at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe.
