The runway itself, which measures over 3 kilometers, is currently 99% complete while the rest of the works are projected to be completed for the airport to be handed over to the Government by October this year.

Construction of the airport, which is expected to facilitate oil production in the region started in 2018. It is being undertaken by Israel based firm SBC (Uganda) Ltd.

The SBC spokesperson Amos Muliisa said on Monday that the handover of the facility has been delayed up to October this year, due to the different hurdles that affected works during the pandemic.
