Lagu passed away on Sunday night after collapsing suddenly. She was declared dead at Mulago hospital where she was rushed by her son.
On Monday night, the body of the 41-year-old was brought back to her home in Bujjuuko amid high emotions.
During the vigil, it was confirmed that the body will not be taken to the National Theatre as had earlier been communicated.
Instead, all the arrangements including a church service and viewing will be held at the home through today, Tuesday.
Tomorrow Wednesday, the body will be taken to her ancestral home in Kalungu where it will be laid to rest.
Different speakers during the vigil described the passing of Lagu as unexpected.
Although she had battled kidney-related complications for over 5 years, her friends and family said she recently appeared to be doing well and in good spirits.
One of her close friends, Ronnie told mourners that she was on stage performing on Saturday night, less than 24 hours before her death.
“We were at Mesach Semakula’s Papa’s Restaurant, and she told me she wanted to sing,” he recounted.
“She said she wanted to perform three songs, but I told her to do only two because there were many other artists lined up."
On stage, Ronnie says, Lagu exited the revelers and that they gave her lots of money.
“She was receiving the money and handing it to me. At the end of the show, she gave me Shs 10,000 and insisted that I keep it.”
Singer Spice Diana another one of her friends said the deceased had tried to reach out to her but was unable to speak.
The vigil was attended by scores of friends, neighbors and relatives as well as players in the music industry.
