"I didn't know who he was, said Tumwine in an interview speaking of the first time she saw Ron Kawamara “... so I was working at the office one time and my desk was open... and he walked past in a hurry... and I texted [my friends], you guys, I have seen a hot guy, but I think he is a client."

Cynthia Tumwine and Ron Kawamara met at Jumia Uganda. At Jumia, she worked as a public relations manager while Kawama served the company in different roles until he left in 2022 while in the position of chief executive officer.

Meanwhile, four months after joining the company, they had a team-building exercise in Busika and that’s when she found out that Kawamara worked at Jumia and he wasn’t a client.

During one of the exercises, he overheard her talking to a friend that she was planning to go back to Kampala but had no means of travelling.

A moment later, he came and asked her if he could give her a lift.

Weeks later, he asked her out for dinner, but she declined it, saying she was not hungry.

Then he came back another time and she accepted.

When things got serious, she told him she couldn't date a workmate, so she quit the job.

After quitting, she went to Nairobi for a study program and Ron proposed when she returned.
