Several Tanga Tanga MPs and politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto were forced to flee after armed police officers stormed their meeting, forcing them to flee.

The leaders who included former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale, MPs Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East) and Justus Murunga (Matungu) were addressing the press, lamenting that police officers are being used to settle political scores.

During the Sturday press conference, Washiali complained that double standards are being applied, noting that while DP Ruto’s events had been canceled, ODM party leader Raila Odinga was having a field day, hosting hundreds of Kikuyu elders at his Opoda home.

"The fundraiser was supposed to take place in March, but we had to postpone it following the Covid-19 outbreak, and so we applied for a permit on Wednesday. However, it was cancelled,"

"I can assure you that rather than breaking the DP, they are making him," Washiali stated before inviting Khalwale.

Ruto and his Tanga Tanga brigade has been on the receiving end with authorities keen on cooling down the rising political temperatures fuled by DP Ruto’s hustlers’ campaigns across the country.

Several of his events have been cancelled in recent days following the chaos that were witnessed during his Murang’a visit last weekend that left two people dead.

Sirisia MP John Waluke on Thursday attended his first parliamentary session since his release from jail where he had been held since June 2020.

Waluke was given a heroes welcome that briefly interrupted proceedings at the National Assembly.

MPs thumped their feet while Jubilee Nominated MP ululated and clapped prompting a warning from the temporary Speaker Jessica Mbalu.

"Mr Speaker, I apologize for getting carried away. I was a little over excited but unlike my colleagues who used their feet, I don't have legs so I used my hands and my mouth," Sankok said.

Waluke said he was grateful to be free after what he described as a tough three months behind bars.

"I was in jail for almost four months and I want to thank all those members of this house who stand with me in those difficult times. It is a very big experience and I have also learnt a lot," the MP said.

Waluke was in June convicted on charges of theft of public funds and sentenced to 67 years in prison with the alternative of a Sh1.02 billion.

The MP appealed the decision at the High Court and on Monday gained temporary relief after he was granted a Sh10 million cash bail.

Attorney General Kihara Kariuki has warned that President Uhuru Kenyatta's term may be extended to 2025 if the advisory issued by Chief Justice David Maraga is followed.

Kariuki said the dissolution of Parliament as advised by Maraga could have detrimental domino effects due to a number of gaps that he pointed out in the current constitution.

The AG said the Constitution envisages that the term of a President would start after the general election where MPs are elected.

He added that the law was not clear on whether dissolving Parliament would result in a by-election or a general election. A by-election would see the new Parliament serve to August 2022 but a general election would see the new Parliament get a new term up to 20225.

“If Parliament commences a fresh term that falls out of the constitutional date for a General Election, the same will have the effect of altering the term of office of the president as, ordinarily, a presidential election may be held only on the same date as the General Election for MPs."

"The new Parliament will also get a fresh term of five years. Such a term may run out of the constitutional date for the conduct of the General Election of MPs, which is held on the second Tuesday of August in every fifth year," the AG said in filings made at the High Court.

His response was made in a case where the High Court was petitioned to declare the advisory issued by Maraga as unconstitutional and block President Uhuru Kenyatta from implementing it.

Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday responded to claims that he had absconded duty and failed to perform his functions.

The DP spoke at his Karen residence, a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta's allies accused him of earning a salary without performing his constitutional functions of assisting the President.

A defiant Ruto said only Uhuru complain as he was elected as the principal assistant to the President.

"Who are they to complain about my work? Who made them my supervisors?” My boss has not complained about my performance," the DP said.

He added that there was no work that had been given to him and he failed to deliver.

"There is work that has been given to me and I failed to execute," Ruto stated.

The Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee Kanini Kega on Tuesday said he was considering taking punitive budgetary action against the DP over his failure to attend the Covid19 conference chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe said the DP's failure to attend the conference suggested that was preparing to leave the ruling party and possibly resign from government.

City lawyer and husband to Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Kamotho Waiganjo, has been forced to clarified that he has not defected to the so called Hustler nation supportive of Deputy President William Ruto.

Waiganjo raised eyebrows after he made a statement admitting that the hustler movement was spreading and gaining popularity among ordinary voters.

"Confession; I am one of those who dismissed the “hustler” narrative. Surely Kenyans are wiser, I thought. Been in the villages for a couple of days. I am less dismissive...and that’s all I’m gonna say about that," he stated.

The statement was widely shared by Ruto's online campaign team with some speculating that the lawyer's sentiments meant he was in support of the DP's 2022 presidential campaign.

The first gentlemen of Kirinyaga, however, said he was merely warning Ruto;s opponents against dismissing the hustler political movement.

"For the UNEQUIVOCAL record I am no part of the Hustler narrative. I know better. I’ve been around a long time. In any event I suspect it’s skin deep. Just do not dismiss it. In the meantime, Do not pigeon hole me," he said in a Facebook post.

The Deputy President's messaging team has recently put up an aggressive campaign to present Ruto as the candidate of the poor working class.

Jubilee nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to lift the night curfew and allow bars and restaurants to operate without time restrictions.

Omanga said thousands of Kenyans were struggling from the effects of the partial shut down of the economy as part of the Covid19 safety regulations.

She opined that the scheduled reopening of schools could wait but the curfew lift and reopening of bars was more urgent.

"Mr President Kenyans want you to open the economy today and allow thousands of struggling hustlers to resume work. Remove the curfew and allow bars, restaurants and hotels to operate w/o the constraint of time. Thousands of jobs lost will be recovered. Shule wachana nayo kwanza," the Senator said.

Kenyans have been waiting with anticipation, the resolutions of the national Covid-19 conference which President Kenyatta will chair today and which will determine when the way forward with regard to the curfew and reopening of other sectors of the economy.

The hospitality industry, particularly bars and lounges have been hard hit by the curfew and other restrictions that have been in place since March when Kenya recorded the first Covid19 case.

The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with bar owners associations, has recently been working on a pilot programme that would allow bars and lounges to reopen with safety measures being observed.

Two clubs in Nairobi, Green Club and Sabina Joy, have been operating as part of the test programme which was to pave way for nationwide reopening.

A patient has died at the parking lot of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) amid a service paralysis occasioned by a strike by the hospital's staff.

Over 4000 members of staff at KNH on Monday downed their tools in protest of the failure by the Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC) of failing to honor a Sh301 million salary increment passed by the National Assembly and okayed by the treasury in 2012.

The staff who are on strike include the support staff, doctors, and nurses.

Tens of patient at the hospital were forced to seek alternative care at neighboring hospitals after they were met by placards by the medics who were supposed to serve them.

“What we want is to see SRC give that letter, advising Kenyatta National Hospital to effect payment of that money to all affected employees and thereafter the strike will be called off,” Seth Panyako, the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) Secretary-General said.

Omar Lali, the Lamu-based fisherman who rose to fame over his unconventional relationship with Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai, has now opened up on the troubles his love for the deceased brought him.

Omar revealed that the romantic relationship was initiated by Tecra after she spotted him at a restaurant in Lamu.

"I had gone to dinner with my daughter who had not been to Kenya in many years. Tecra was at the restaurant with a friend who I happened to know. I said hello to my friend but when I got home my friend called me saying Tecra was asking around for the guy with the grey beard.

"That night we stayed late as we talked about life. I took her to her room at around 2am and she told me not to leave because she felt at peace being with me. We spent the night together and that is how our love started," he narrated.

Omar, however, admitted that the relationship was heavily fought by Tecra's wealthy family - particularly her mother - Keroche CEO Tabitha Karanja.

"When Tecra took me to her family, they didn't want to hear anything about me. Her mother told me there is no way her daughter was going to live with an Alshabab terrorist. But I have since forgiven her since she is old school she probably didn't mean it. At one point she came home with a convoy of six cars and I decided to escape because I was afraid of the people she was bringing," the 51-year old recalled.

He added that the feud was finally resolved through the intervention of Tecra's brother, James Muigai who convinced their father, Joseph Karanja, to bless the union between the unconventional lovers.

"Mzee blessed us and the feud stopped. We toured the world and I was able to teach her to overcome her fears. The only thing, regrettably, that I failed to teach her was regulation of alcohol intake. She used to drink a lot and I pleaded with her to only drink after sunset but she would respond by telling that her family was in the alcohol business and drinking was their tradition which I must respect as she respected mine," Omar said.

The veteran fisherman said he would spend most of the day looking after the Keroche heiress until that fateful night when she fell down the stairs when her boyfriend had already blacked out.

"That day I had taken some antibiotics for my tooth which had an infection. She pressured me to drink but I only took a few drinks and blacked out. I was awoken by the sound of a thud and when I work up, I realized she had fallen down the sharp staircase on her way to the washroom," he recalled.

Tecra died a few days after the fall with Omar spending several days in police custody before the DPP dropped murder charges against him.

Kuresoi North MP and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi was today, 27 Sep 2020 involved in grisly road accident.

The accident left one person dead with others sustaining minor injuries.

The accident happened on Sunday afternoon at Kamara area along the along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

Witnesses recounted that Cheboi’s car collided head-on with an on-coming motorbike.

244 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the country over the last 24 hours, raising the total to 38115.

The results which signal a significant spike from yesterday’s came from a sample of 3707.

540,308 samples have so far been tested since Kenya reported the first case in March.

228 of the new cases are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners.

157 are male and 87 are female while the youngest case is a three-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 85.

Nairobi county accounted for a significant portion of the new cases (63) followed by Nakuru 58, Kisii 23, Garissa 16, Kisumu 14, Mombasa 13, Kiambu 10, Busia 9, Trans Nzoia 7, Turkana 6, Kajiado 5 and&nbsp;Kerlcho 5.

Uasin Gishu, Narok, Laikipia and Siaya reported 2 cases each with &nbsp;Kakamega, Marsabit, Bungoma, Meru, Murang’a, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi reporting a case each.

According to the Ministry of Health, 40 people were discharged from hospitals and home-based care across the country after full recovery.

24621 people have so far been declared healed from the virus with hope of flattening the curve.

On a sad note, 2 people succumbed to the virus, raising the total fatality to 691.

Top on the list is Emuhaya MP Jeremiah Omboko Milemba, under the Amani National Congress (ANC) party, who got 75.4% points.

Embattled Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng’eno ranked second after garnering 71.4% points.

Others in the top 5 slot include Vincent Musyoka of Mwala Constituency (70.8%),&nbsp;Christopher Aseka of&nbsp;Khwisero (70.0%) and Patrick Mweu of Kibwezi West (69.8%).

In Nairobi, ODM took the lion’s share of the top 5 slots with Jubilee MPs conspicuously missing in the list of best performers.

Kibra MP Imran Okoth continued with the good record set by his late brother Ken Okoth, trouncing his 16 colleagues.

ODM boss Raila Odinga, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Kibra MP Imran Okoth.

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi (ODM)ranked second with Simba Arati and Babu Owino also making it among the top performers.

In the Woman Representative category ODM once again outperformed Jubilee with Kisumu's Rosa Buyu toping the list with 61.5% followed closely by Homa Bay’s Gladys Wanga with 61%.

Other in the list include Lamu Woman Rep Obo Mohammed who ranked third with 60%, Samburu’s Maison Leshomo and her Makueni Counterpart Rose Museo came in fourth and fifth with 59.1% and 57.6% points respectively.

Outspoken Kiambu Women Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba led from the bottom, coming last with a paltry 39%.

Trans Nzoia's Janet Nangabo and Nyamira County's Jerusha Momanyi also took the bottom slots.

Police have recovered 900kilograms of bhang with street value of 23 million shillings and arrested several people in a daring raid.

Acting on a tip off, police in Juja stormed the house belonging to one Martin Mungai where they found the bhang stored in bags.

The 28-year old suspect who was arrested alongside two others was also found with 23 live plants.

Juja Sub County police commander Dorothy Migarusha confirmed the incident.

While conducting a search on the suspect’s house, two other individuals linked to the bhang trade arrived and attempted to bribe the polibe with 689,000 bribe.

Police however rejected the bribe and took in the suspects who will be arraigned in courts on Monday.

The police boss lauded the officers for rejecting the bribe and salvaging the image of the service that has consistently ranked as one of the most corrupt agencies.

Bhang has been making news this week with Narok Senator Ledama Olekina impressing Kenyans on Twitter with a video of himself in a marijuana (Bhang) plantation, calling for its legalization in Kenya.

In the video, the Senator mentioned that he was in a country called Lithuania where its legal to plant marijuana.

Ledama wondered why Kenya is still stuck in the old days of saying marijuana is illegal, yet we very well know it can help reduce pain for cancer patients whose deaths are on the rise.

The Narok Senator mentioned that his host told him that the type of marijuana planted in his farm is called hemp, used for construction, and making ropes.

Heavy gunfire was reported as Kenyan and Somalia troops engaged in gun fight on Saturday evening.

The clash was triggered by protests from the Somali side when angry protesters marched towards a border post manned by Kenyan security forces between the Somali town Bula Hawo and Kenya's Mandera.

Witnesses recounted that Kenyan forces fired into the air to deter the protesters who were closing in, protesting the alleged killing of 3 civilians suspected to be Al-Shabaab militants.

In an interview with AFP, Mohamed Abdirahman, a police officer based in Bula Hawo confirmed that “Kenyan troops opened fire on Somali protesters who closed (in) on their positions along the Bula Hawo boarder and the Somali troops stationed close to the area responded with heavy fire, this continued for several minutes".

Somali National Army responded with heavy gunfire as protesters scampered for safety.

"The Somali forces close to the area intervened in the situation by engaging (in a) gunfight with the Kenyans, (protesters) were dispersed with heavy gunfire by the Kenyan troops," confirmed an eye witness.

The Media house quoted a Kenyan security official confirming that "there was gunfire at the border where SNA (Somali National Army) and KDF (Kenya Defence Forces) exchanged gunfire after some incident of protests".

"The locals on the other side are accusing Kenyan forces of killing three civilians who were not Al-Shabaab," added the official.

None of the parties involved in the exchange has confirmed any casualties.

Deputy President William Ruto’s latest remarks in which he outlined his agenda for the nation amid rising political temperatures generated by the Building Bridges Initiative debate has sent tongues wagging with Kenyans taking to social media to respond.

“We want a discourse on real JOBS for millions of Kenyans NOT four or five positions for tribal chiefs. JOBS for ordinary citizens. How MANY JOBS?, in which SECTORS? and WHEN? is very URGENT. Positions can wait.” Wrote Ruto.

Kenyans responded swiftly with many putting him to task and pointing out that after more than 8 years in power, Ruto has suddenly realized that Kenyans are poor and deserve jobs at the end of jubilee reign.

The tackles came in thick and fast with many pointing out that the DP is not the right person to talk about creating jobs for millions of jobless youth, having been the second in command for more than 8 years and having promised to create jobs since 2013 with nothing to show for it.

“You are telling us what you told us in 2013. Bring something new.. you are petty and obsolete. Find something else to keep you busy rather than facebooking telling us nothing,” fired Felix Aremo.

“I feel sorry for this nation.. Is this the deputy president who promised jobs to the Kenyan people giving more promises ....ohhh my. We need all these now that you are in government,” quipped Job Nduri.

DP Ruto’s latest 2 demands that have angered Kenyans

Two people died on the spot in a tragic road accident after a vehicle they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck heading in the opposite direction.

Among those killed in the Saturday evening accident is KTN News director, Edwin Audi.

Confirming the incident, Kajiado Central Police boss Daudi Loronyokwe stated that the two people perished in the crash that involved three vehicles: Two lorries and a Toyota Probox.

Reports indicate that the accident happened when the Probox attempted to overtake a lorry and crashed into an oncoming truck.

"The Probox was coming from Kajiado heading to Namanga General. It happened that the said motor vehicle tried to overtake a trailer. The driver of the Probox tried to avoid hitting the trailer which was ferrying timber to Kajiado.

"The Probox hit the front side of the trailer prompting it to veer off the road before landing in a ditch. As a result, one of the four passengers (Audi) died on the spot," read the police report in part.

The accident happened at around 6:30 PM on Saturday evening near&nbsp;Mailia Saba along Kajiado-Namanga road. "The Probox was coming from Kajiado heading to Namanga General. It happened that the said motor vehicle tried to overtake a trailer. The driver of the Probox tried to avoid hitting the trailer which was ferrying timber to Kajiado. "The Probox hit the front side of the trailer prompting it to veer off the road before landing in a ditch. As a result, one of the four passengers (Audi) died on the spot," read the police report in part.

Senior KTN journalist among 2 killed in tragic road accident

Drama ensued in Isiolo on Saturday, 26 Sep 2020 after angry mourners confronted and chased away two Members of Parliament.

The duo, Isiolo South MP Abdi Koropu Tepo and his&nbsp;Isiolo North counterpart&nbsp;Hassan Hulufo suffered the wrath of the angry mourners after they demanded to address the crowd that had attended the burial of two people who were shot dead a day earlier on Friday, 24 Sep 2020.

The event quickly degenerated into chaos as the crowd accused the lawmakers of doing little to help the situation.

A section of the crowd accused the Isiolo South MP of holding secret meetings with rival communities from the neighbouring county of Garissa, resulting in a series of attacks.

Shortly after the confrontation, photos surfaced online showing two damaged cars allegedly belonging to the lawmakers.

The mourners recounted that during the Friday attack, armed bandits roughed up their victims who were grazing their livestock before shooting them dead,

"The deceased was accosted at a well where he was grazing, roughed up, beaten and killed on the spot," recounted one of the residents.

A manhunt has been launched for the armed bandits with authorities keen on restoring peace and security in the area.

Last month, a similar incident in the area left two people dead.

Residents now claim that the series of attacks witnessed in the recent past are part of a plot to push them out of their ancestral land located in the profitable LAPSET corridor.

Tension remained high in the region with residents urging the government to arm police reservists to boost security in the area.

Msambweni parliamentary aspirant Sharlet Mariam has attacked Deputy President William Ruto over his apparent support for Feisal Abdallah Dori in the upcoming by-elections.

Sharlet said the DP was practicing hypocrisy by condemning the dynasty politics while at the same supporting Feisal who is a relative of the immediate former Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori.

The by-elections was triggered by the death of the late MP who succumbed to cancer in March.

"I have seen a lot of double standards. On one hand he says the poor people must be heard and respected but when he comes to Msambweni he wants us to play inheritance politics. The people of Msambweni are the one who were bereaved, its not a family affair," Sharlet said.

The Ukunda-based businesswoman said she would contest the seat as an independent after the Jubilee Party, which she recently joined, declined to field a candidate in the Msambweni by-elections.
