CCBU powers Ugandan athletes’ 100 Years of Excellence celebration

Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) played a key role as the official hydration partner for Uganda Athletics’ “100 Years of Excellence and Dedication to Sports” celebration.

 The landmark event, held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Mandela National Stadium, marked a century of organised athletics in Uganda, highlighting the nation's achievements in the sport and its collective identity.

The partnership between CCBU and Uganda Athletics reflected a shared commitment to sporting excellence and national pride.

“As the official hydration partner, we were incredibly proud to support this historic milestone that honoured a century of sporting excellence in Uganda,” said Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communication and Sustainability Director at CCBU. 

He added that the partnership demonstrated CCBU’s ongoing commitment to creating a lasting positive impact in Uganda, contributing to a better shared future for the nation.

CCBU provided Rwenzori Mineral Water as the exclusive hydration brand for the event, ensuring that athletes, officials, and attendees stayed well-hydrated throughout the day. 

This partnership cemented the company’s involvement in one of the most significant sporting events in Uganda’s history, demonstrating its deep connection to the cultural and social fabric of the country.

The centenary celebration featured various activities, including a 10km Fun Run, the prestigious John Akii Bua Memorial Invitational, a 2000m Steeplechase, and a 4x100m Corporate Relay. 

Additionally, ceremonial elements, such as band processions led by Uganda Police and Uganda Prisons Services, added a celebratory atmosphere to the event.

Beatrice Ayikoru, Secretary General for Uganda Athletics, praised CCBU for its role in the celebration, noting that the partnership symbolised a commitment not only to business growth but to Uganda’s cultural and social development. 

“Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda’s support for this occasion showed their dedication to both the sporting community and the nation’s progress,” she said.

Over the years, CCBU has consistently supported various sporting initiatives across Uganda. This partnership continued the company’s legacy of purpose-driven collaborations that go beyond commercial interests to deliver real value. 

The centenary celebration, CCBU’s contribution, and its ongoing commitment to supporting Uganda’s sports scene will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping the next century of athletic excellence.
