The charge is being led this time by a section of leaders from Western Uganda, who took issue with his recent comments concerning the “Balaalo” cattle herders settling in Northern Uganda.
Dollo was quoted last week claiming that the Balaalo nomads are proxies of UPDF generals and ministers who are out to grab land from the locals in northern region.
While appearing on a radio talk show last Friday, Dollo said he had even conveyed this message to President Museveni during their meeting last month.
“I told him that we previously thought the herdsmen bothering our people in the region were the (original) Balaalo, but we have discovered that these are the modern-day Balaalo,” Dollo said.
“These (modern-day) Balaalo in a letter your brother (Gen Salim Saleh) wrote to you are 15 of your ministers and army generals... I challenged him (the President) as to why he allows his army generals to go and grab land belonging to Acholis.”
These comments, however, did not please some of the leaders from western Uganda, where the Balaalo originate from.
Hon Dan Atwijukire Kimosho, the MP for Kazo County in Kazo district said such was not expected from the person sitting at the helm of the country’s Temple of Justice.
“With these sentiments from the Supreme of Justice, what would happen to a Mulalo seeking justice from a Panel headed by the same Chief Justice?,” wondered Hon Kimosho.
“Such statements are not a representation of the Head of the Temple of Justice that he should be!”
This is not the first time that Chief Justice Dollo has been accused of treading the tribalism minefield.
In March last year, he was forced to issue an apology to the Kingdom of Buganda for references he made to the Buganda monarch, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ii.
Dollo, while speaking at the vigil held at the home of the late Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, attacked the people of Buganda for allegedly organizing a protest against Oulanyah in the United States where he had been flown for treatment.
He went on to wonder why the same people did not hold similar demonstrations when the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi was flown to Germany for treatment following a severe allergic reaction in August 2021.
