Social media went abuzz last Thursday with claims that the youthful pastor had caught his lover -- whom he only recently introduced to the public -- with another man.
The rumours, fueled by radio host Isaac Daniel Katende alias Kasuku, went that Pastor Jengo placed a tracker in Fiona’s phone, and traced her to a hang-out location along Salaama Road with another man and that he consequently called off the engagement.
Speaking out rather angrily on the incident, the pastor said the news found him at his home on Thursday morning.
He said his fiance, Fiona, was at their country home with his (Jengo’s) mother.
“Someone woke me up in the morning to ask if I had checked the news. When I opened my phone, I found 30 missed calls, all from journalists,” he said.
Jengo says, he initially thought of ignoring the rumours, but hours later in the afternoon the situation on social media went out of hand.
At this time, he says, he called home and instructed his mother to take away Fiona’s phone before she landed on the news.
However, by Friday morning the fiance had seen the news.
Jengo says he called her and they had a discussion about it.
“I reminded her of the time I opposed the idea of introducing her to the public. I told her that this was the kind of stuff I was trying to protect her from,” he said.
Pastor Jengo, further revealed that eventually, he was able to identify the source of the false reports as one of the church members.
“This member has been with us for a long time, but recently he lost his job and it seems that this was his way of trying to get some money.”
The pastor called upon the media houses which run the false reports to retract them in order to minimize the hurt they have caused to his fiance and her family.
