Uganda Cranes settled for a goalless draw against neighbours Democratic Republic of Congo in the Africa Nations Championships group stage opener.
DRC could have opened scoring in the 10th minute with Nzali’s free-kick and Nafian Alionzi calmly made the save.
Moses Waiswa was also gifted chance to give Cranes the lead but the ball wide sending players on the bench into bitter moment of frustration.

In a physically charged match and high tempo, Uganda had its best chance in the second half. Gift Fred’s header was denied by the woodwork in what could have been the difference.
Micho would made several changes in his offensive bringing on Nelson Senkatuka, and Mutyaba Travis for Milton Karisa and Frank Ssebufu but the much-needed breakthrough did not come to pass.
DR Congo and Uganda sit joint top of Group B ahead of the Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal fixture at the same venue.
