The incident was revealed by the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, during the weekly security police press conference at the Police headquarters in Naguru.
The woman, who has since been identified as Aya Cathy, according to Enanga, is a resident of Gulu City.
“Aya returned home and stabbed both her children killing one and leaving another injured,” he said, adding that the mother of two later attempted suicide by stabbing herself in the neck.
The affected children, Enanga said, have been identified as: Kimara Tonny Evans, a 4-year-old boy and Atim Precious, a 3-month-old baby girl.
Enanga said Aya was rushed to Gulu hospital after attempting to committee suicide and is now undergoing treatment as Police wait on her to get better for questioning to establish why she stabbed her own children.
In a related incident, Jinja Road and Bugolobi Police are investigating a 34-year-old man of Indian origin identified as Sahil Sharma for the alleged murder of his 28-year-old wife identified as Dekesh Sharma.
It is alleged that Sahil, who has been living with his wife in Bugolobi Flats, strangled and murdered his wife when they had a fight in the house.
Dekesh was reportedly rushed to Paragon Hospital in Bugolobi in a terrible condition. It was however too late. Doctors pronounced her dead after checking her and finding marks of a strangled neck.
The doctors at the hospital reported the matter to Police that has since got involved.
Sahil, Enanga said, has been arrested as investigations go on.
