Muhoozi, who is now a full UPDF General and a Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, was last year charged with disobedience and being a common nuisance following his erratic behaviour as he went on tweeting controversial issues on his official Twitter (X) handle.

According to a report by the Daily Monitor, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Jane Francsi Abodo, presented a charge withdrawal form to the Buganda Road Court, which eventually led the presiding trial chief magistrate, Ronald Kyazze, to withdraw the charges.

I have perused through the withdraw form; the DPP has decided to withdraw the charges against Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and I have also heard the reasons given by the state that, a year now, there is no credible evidence by the state rightly stated by the complainant, and under Article 23(d) of the Constitution, I accept the withdrawal, and the charges against Muhoozi are hereby withdrawn,” Kayizzi, according to the newspaper, ruled.

It should be noted that last year, Muhoozi, then the UPDF Commander Land Forces, threatened that the UPDF would capture Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, in two weeks.

It wouldn't take us—my army and me—2 weeks to capture Nairobi,” he tweeted.

In his tweets, Muhoozi also raised concern about why former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta handed over power to President William Ruto on September 13, 2022. He said he should not have changed the constitution to remain in power.

Haha! I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of law? You must be joking! For us (Uganda), there is only the revolution, and you will soon learn about it!” he tweeted.

Muhoozi’s tweets sparked not only anger among ordinary Kenyan citizens but also among high-ranking government officials, such as the Kenyan Speaker of Parliament.

President Museveni apologised to the Kenyan government and followed his apology by firing and, at the same time, promoting his son. Muhoozi was stripped of his Commander of Land Forces position and, at the same time, given a promotion to become a full general, making him the first rising UPDF military officer in the army’s history.
