Bobi Wine, while addressing his party supporters in South Africa on Tuesday evening, asked the Ugandan bloggers especially those on TikTok to keep up the spirit of enlightening fellow Ugandans.
He expressed gratitude to the social media users, some of whom he said, have more influence currently than top government officials.
“You people in the diaspora have done a great job as you use social media to open people’s eyes. You have completely changed the conversation; it is no longer about Arsenal and Man U… it is not even about music anymore but about the country Uganda,” he said.
“You saw that the president even banned Facebook when the pressure was too much, but you too are very relentless. When he switched it off, now I see you roasting him on Tiktok.
“Just an ordinary Tiktoker like (Umar) Kisekka has greater influence than (government spokesperson) Ofwono Opondo among the youth. An ordinary Khadama like Arshur Karma has more influence than Emmaneul Ddombo (Deputy NRM Spokesman),” he said.
The NUP leader as such called upon the Ugandans to consolidate their influence from wherever they are, to cause a change in their country, just like many other exiled African freedom fighters who fought for the independence of their own countries.
Bobi Wine, on the other hand, cautioned them against using their platforms to spread hate and misinformation.
“You need to keep your messaging moral, with no anger and vitreal; read and research as much as you can and make sure that your message is backed by facts,” he said.
Bobi Wine, who just concluded his trip to North America and South Africa is expected back in the country this week.
