A team of uniformed and ununiformed police and UPDF officers yesterday raided the MP’s house located in Katwe, in search of military items.
According to Hon Nyeko, dozens of officers found his wife Ruth Twagira Kirabo at their house.
These, he says, pushed her into the house and demanded to be taken to the bedroom where they believed the MP was hiding ammunitions.
In the bedroom, Nyeko claims the soldiers manhandled his wife, forcing her to answer their questions while kneeling on the floor.
“One of the military officers who I am told was very rude, told my wife to kneel down as he asked her questions,” the MP told reporters at a press conference.

“They then proceeded to check under my bed and they asked my wife where I put the guns. I want to remind Gen Museveni that we do not have guns; we have the power of the people,” he added.
Hon Nyeko also claims that the soldiers attempted to plant items in his ceiling of his house if it wasn’t for his wife’s vigilance.
“I want to thank her for being bold enough to refuse them from going to different parts of the house without her.”
Police speak out
Police yesterday confirmed the operation at the MP’s house and also revealed some of the items that were recovered.
These, according to SSP Patrick Onyango, the public relations officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), included attire that resembles that of the armed forces, namely;
- Desert military shoes
- Black police shoes
- An overall resembling that of counter-terrorism police with the [Uganda] flag badge
MP Nyeko however, says the recovered shoes were ordinary Timberland boots, while the black overall resembles that of his favorite rally driver.
The Police and the UPDF also carried out an operation at the former head offices of Nyenko’s National Unity Platform (NUP) where they also recovered mostly attires.
