Mugga was arrested at Makindye Chief Magistrates Court where he had gone to challenge a restraining order that the court issued weeks earlier, blocking him from accessing his home and property.
Mugga’s first wife, one Hadijaj Nassaka petitioned the court seeking orders to block her husband from coming to their home or using their land.
The Makindye Grade One Magistrate H.W. Iga Adiru granted the order on September 1, 2023.
At the time, Mugga was outside the country in Dubai.
Upon returning home and hearing about the court ruling, Mugga yesterday stormed the Makindye court along with his second wife, to protest against the decision.
The businessman told reporters that his first wife Nassaka, with whom they had been together for the past 25 years, was unhappy that he married a second woman.
“But she has no business seizing my property. I worked very hard to build that home,” lamented a teary Mugga.
“Besides, I am a Muslim man and I am allowed to marry more than one wife.”
However, after filing his application, Mugga was arrested by police officers in plain clothes and whisked off.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigire said Mugga was being detained on allegations of trespass and flouting a court order.
By Thursday evening, Mugga was being detained at Nateete Police Station according to the police mouthpiece.
