Segawa describes Chameleone as the “Godfather” of Uganda’s music industry, highlighting how he revolutionised the scene with groundbreaking Luganda songs instead of focusing solely on English.

According to Segawa, Chameleone set trends that transformed and broadened the entire Ugandan music landscape.

Former State Minister for Water Resources, Betty Oyella Bigombe, officially presented her Letters of Credence to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah at a solemn ceremony held at the Istana Nurul Iman, the royal palace of Brunei Darussalam.
Ambassador Bigombe is now Uganda’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Brunei Darussalam, although she resides in Kuala Lumpur.

He also credits Chameleone with inspiring a new generation of artists, including celebrated figures like Bobi Wine, through his unique style and pioneering efforts.

He asserts that when Chameleone eventually passes, he should receive a national funeral at Kololo Airstrip in recognition of his immense contributions to the country.

“What Uganda’s entertainment industry is today is because of Jose Chameleone,” Segawa stated, addressing the sentiment that many legendary Ugandan figures, like Chameleone, feel underappreciated for their cultural impact.
