According to reliable reports, the Ugandan boxing body utilise the funds to build a state-of-the-art training venue at Matugga, about 20 kilometres north of the capital, Kampala.
IBF president Umar Kremlev gives $5M support to Uganda
International Boxing Federation president has given Uganda Boxing Federation support worth $5M (about Shs18bn).
Ugandan Boxing Federation president Moses Muhangi reportedly requested for the support to set up an academy that will provide support programs to athletes including coaches, referees and judges as well as sport and competition managers.
Umar Kremlev is in Uganda and is slated to meet a number of stakeholders including the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among, Buganda Kingdom officials, among other dignitaries.
“It will aim to grant holistic support and boxing programs for anyone who has an interest in sports and boxing in general”, Muhangi told URN.
UBF has inked also reportedly signed a deal with Dover, Delaware-based boxing promoters Probellum to pull out talented boxers from Uganda and prepare them for more significant events.
