Meals for Champions: Mike Tyson and Tyson Fury have similar diets

Mike Tyson ate a 4,000-calorie-a-day diet when he was king of the boxing ring, which is very similar to Tyson Fury who eats a diet that consist of around 4,500 calories a day.

In terms of Ugandan dishes, such calorie-dense foods are those with a higher fat or carbohydrate content -- think nuts, avocados, oats, eggs, peanut butter, whole-grain breads, olive oil, and other rich foods. Throw in a lot some pork and you are good to go.

Tyson’s diet, along with a rigorous fitness program, has kept him in superb shape, that’s why he is regularly showing off his six-pack, no, not of beer.

At his peak, Tyson's diet consisted of around 4,000 calories-a-day which included three large meals with regular snacking.

Tyson used carbohydrates to fuel his boxing workouts and so had a carbohydrate-heavy breakfast of oatmeal with milk and further vitamin supplements.

After going to the gym, Tyson's lunch would be chicken breast and rice with orange juice. At the end of the day, Tyson would have steak and pasta with more orange juice to continue his high intake of protein and vitamins.

He would also snack regularly with protein shakes which contained six blended bananas to maintain a balance in his diet. He would eat ice cream and cereal despite the latter's low nutritional value, but this was once a week.

Undefeated heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, the so called 'Gypsy King', eats six-meals-a-day of smaller calories. At breakfast, he has Greek yoghurt and berries.

He has two lunches, one before and one after his training, of salmon and a type of meat cooked into a curry which varies depending on the days of the week.

He likes spicy food to help with inflammation throughout the day and he usually has two dinner servings, including pork and chicken with vegetables and spinach.

Fury also eats 'power balls' as a supper, for protein growth and increase of muscle mass. They contain almond butter, oatmeal, coconut, honey, pecans and dark chocolate chips all rolled into balls.

Basically, and typically, Fury can consume around 4000-4500 calories-a-day.
