The 2022/23 CAF Champions League draws drawn today have handed Vipers Central African Republic giants, Olympic Real De Bangui in the first preliminary round. Played on a home and away basis, the preliminary round will have Vipers travelling to Central African Republic around September 9th and the return leg held about a week later.
Vipers SC face tricky path to CAF Champions League
Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have been handed a tricky path to the CAF Champions League.
Winners from this tie will then face Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe in the second round.
The first leg of the second round will happen between October 7th – 9th 2022, with the second leg to be played between October 14th – 16th.
Currently on pre-season tour, playing against top clubs in the region, Vipers face an uphill task against Olympic Real De Bangui who won the 2021/22 league trophy and are also 12-time winners.
The Venoms shocked Tanzanian treble champions to a 2-0 win in a packed 60,000 seater Benjamin Mkapa stadium. The team travels to Rwanda to face Rayon Sports in the second high profile pre-season friendly match ahead of the new season.
Vipers have so far added eight experienced players; Murushid Juuko, Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, Olivier Osomba, Abubakar Lawal, Isa Mubiru, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Ashraf Mandela and Abdu Lumala.
Furthermore, the Vipers have added a host of new signings to strengthen the squad.
Vipers has never played against Olympic in the past, and the match will provide the perfect opportunity to create history in this fixture.
Meanwhile, Bul FC will face Egyptian premier league side Future FC in the first preliminary round of the CAF confederations Cup qualifiers. They will host the first leg on September 9-11 before visiting Egypt for the return leg on September 16-18.
If BUL progress past Future FC, they will meet winner between Borgou from Benin and Kallon FC of Sierra Leone.
