South Korea shock Portugal to send Uruguay and Ghana home
South Korea bounced back from the berth of elimination as they successfully made a 2-1 comeback against Portugal.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers' marksman slotted the winning goal in the 91st minute at Education City Stadium in Qatar to complete a powerful comeback that hoisted South Korea to the second position on the table with four points.
It was all emotional for the South Koreans as Son Heung-min led the rivers of unending tears at the final whistle.
Having already secure qualification, Portugal made six changes to the side that beat Uruguay 2-0.
The side would start brilliantly with Ricardo Horta’s opener in the fifth minute.
South Korea would find an equaliser in the 27th minute through Kim Young-gwon.
A stoppage time winner in the dying minutes means the South Koreans finished second in group H.
Ghana lost 2-0 to Uruguay but the South Americans are also eliminated on goal difference.
