Heart complications push Sergio Aguero into retirement

Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero has today announced his retirement from football at the age of 33 due to a heart condition.

It should be noted that from the month of October, Sergio Aguero has not played any match ever since he was taken off pitch during the first half of Barca's draw with Alaves which Barcelona later announced that the discomfort had been caused by an arrhythmia.

The former Premier League player who played for Manchester City as forward has since been receiving regular cardiac exams to monitor his health but results all show that it will be hard for him to carry on with his professional football career.

Aguero has announced his retirement at the new conference today wednesday in the company of his Barcelona president Joan Laporta.

"This conference is to announce that I have decided to stop playing professional football. It is a very difficult moment. The decision I have taken for my health, the problem I had a month and a half ago”,said an emotional Aguero

"I have been in good hands with the medical staff. I made the decision 10 days ago after doing everything possible to have some hope of playing on. I am very proud of my career. I always dreamed of a professional career since the first time I touched a ball at five.I want to thank Atletico Madrid who took a chance on me when I was 18 and Manchester City, everyone knows who I feel about City and how well they treated me there."

In attendance Camp Nou for the conference was Barcelona legend and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola alongside director of football at Manchester City club Txiki Begiristain.

Manchester City also paid tribute to Aguero on social media and posted "King Kun. Everyone at Manchester City would like to take this opportunity to thank @aguerosergiokun for his incredible contribution to our success over the last decade and wish him well in his retirement."

Kun Aguero joined Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer from Manchester City. His first goal at Barcelona came in the Clasico defeat to Real Madrid.

Kun got this injury during his appearance at Nou Camp and it was his second start for his new club in the Alaves game on October 30th.

Aguero became famous from Argentina as a teenager, he signed for Atletico Madrid in 2006 where he scored 102 goals in five years in Spain before joining Manchester City in a deal worth around €40 million. At city, Aguero scored the fantastic last-minute goal against Queens Park Rangers [QPR] on the final day of the 2011-12 season helping the club win their first ever Premier League title.

Kun Aguero has in total won 15 trophies in England, including five league titles, and he is Manchester City's record goalscorer with 260 goals in 390 matches.

Because of his role at Manchester City, the club announced honoring him with a statue outside the Etihad Stadium together with Vicent Kompany and David Silva.

He has also won 101 caps for his nation Argentina scoring 41 goals, and was part of the team that won the Copa America last summer and was a runner-up at the World Cup in 2014.
