KCCA hammer Express 3-0 to go top of the table as Kankonde finally scores
Newly signed Congolese forward Simon Kankonde has finally broken the duck as KCCA FC reigned supreme over Express FC in the Kampala derby.
Kasasiro Boys handed Express its fourth successive defeat with a clinical 3-0 home win to leap to the top of Uganda Premier League table.
Allan Okello yet again contributed to the early opener as he was fouled in the box to win a penalty. Moses Waiswa converted from the spot in the opening minute of the game to lift KCCA FC.
Forward Mohammed Shaban came dangerously close to extend KCCA’s lead with a volley but was denied.
In the second half, Kankonde proved to be the dangerous substitute coming in for Rogers Mato. He netted in the 72nd minute with a brilliant strike. The goal is a huge sigh of relief for the forward who has been guilty of missing a number of crucial opportunities including the penalty in the 1-0 loss against Maroons FC.
In the 79th minute Lwanga Charles would come in for Shaban and also find the back of the net.
Another pair of fresh legs proved too hot to handle as he netted the third goal in the 82nd minute to seal Kampala derby victory over the Red Eagles.
