Giroud becomes France’s all-time top goal scorer
Olivier Giroud has become France’s all-time top scorer after his strike in the 44th minute against Poland in the World Cup first-round knock out match on Sunday.
France unleashed a whole offensive play in the opening minutes, dominating possession with Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe causing a lot of trouble for Wojciech Szczesny and the Polish backline.
Dembele would find the breakthrough linking up with Mbappe who set up Giroud for the opener.
The former Arsenal man shared the record with the Gunners’ legend Thierry Henry after netting a brace in the 4-1 win over Australia in the opening Group D game.
