Aboubakar hammers Brazil but Cameroon bow out of World Cup
Vincent Aboubakar was the hero once again as the World Cup delivered yet another shock as Cameroon beat world’s number one and tournament favourites Brazil 1-0.
Brazil coach Tite will be justified for his first team choice as several starters were rested giving a number of plaers including Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, among others a starting role.
Despite the heavy rotation, Brazil dominated proceedings with Martinelli coming very close several times.
Cameroon too had its moments especially with Bryan Mbeumo heading into the ground with the goal begging right before half time.
The second half was a mirror image of the first with Brazil dominating, but this time around Cameroon took their one chance.
Deep in stoppage time, Vincent Aboubakar ghosted between Brazilian defenders to head home a shock winner.
Aboubakar was however red carded for the celebration as the second bookable offence. He high-fived the referee despite being overcame by the heat of the moment.
Cameroon were denied by the Switzerland’s 3-2 victory over Serbia.
