The athletes are currently camping for high-altitude endurance and general training in Kapchorwa district. The Commonwealth Games are slated for July 28, 2022 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Cheptegei, Peruth receive cash boost ahead of Commonwealth Games
Olympics champions Joshua Cheptegei, Peruth Chemutai and other members of the police athletics camp have received a cash boost ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

A total of 11 athletes at the camp including Joshua Chetegei made it to the national roster to represent Uganda at the Commonwealth Games.
In address by SSP Kalule Abu on behalf of the IGP, he appealed to the athletes to maintain their discipline to achieve more in the upcoming games.
"The IGP has appreciated your efforts, endurance and discipline exhibited as you participate in different field tracks trials," Kalule told the Commonwealth Games- bound athletes.
"Continue being disciplined, focused and supportive to one another. This will help you achieve more as you build your career on track and in Uganda Police Force”.
He further added that promotions awaits winners.
Uganda will be competing in 13 sports disciplines at the games.
