Teddy Nakimuli says its God’s will that she won medal without throwing a punch
Uganda’s first woman to win a boxing medal, Teddy Nakimuli says it’s God’s will that she did so without throwing a punch.
The decision handed Nakimuli a bout in the bronze medal bracket and all she needed was to upgrade to either gold or silver by winning a fight in the games.
“It was the will of God that I become the first Ugandan woman to win the medal”, she said upon her arrival at Entebbe International Airport.
Nakimuli would lose her only bout in the games by unanimous decision 5-0 as she bowed out with a bronze. She says that she will intensify her ability to compete at the top level. She further hailed Uganda Boxing Federation boss Moses Muhangi for the Boxing Champions League initiative which brought her to the limelight.
“I am going to be very busy serving my country. I’m not continue to sit down and take a break. It’s only going to get more serious after this”.
I am very happy and appreciate what Muhangi has done. The boxing champions league is where this all started and I’m very grateful to him, our coaches and trainers who have been with us from day one”.
When asked about her expectations from the government, she said; “Our government is led by leaders who recognize the value of what we have done for the nation, therefore we will accept any prize they decide to give us”.
