Uganda’s Halimah Nakaayi will be eyeing to return to the elusive podium as she takes on the 800m finals at the 2022 Wanda Diamond League.

Halimah Nakaayi eyes glory in Diamond League 800m finals tonight as the Letzigrund Stadium hosts the second day of the Wanda Diamond League final in Zurich.
Up for grabs in Zurich is the top prize $30,000 and Diamond trophies, and wildcard entries to the 2023 World Athletics Championships Budapest.
Nakaayi, a former world champion lost her crown to America’s Athing Mu at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA as she failed to make it to the finals falling out in the semi-finals.
In a bid to make amends, Nakaayi stormed the Commonwealth Games 800m finals but failed to make it to the podium in a much-improved effort.
Having had a very busy calendar, the 27-year-old athlete will hope to shake off the fatigue and earlier disappointments to a historic Diamond League trophy.
She has had over 12 outdoor races and seven indoors in the season.
Nakaayi will face strong competition from Mary Moraa, who went on from winning bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon to gold at the Commonwealth Games. Britain’s Keely
Keely Hodgkinson, Jamaica’s Natoya Goule and France’s Renelle Lamote, the winners in Monaco and Lausanne respectively, are also other top athletes aiming for the Diamond League trophy.
