As hundreds of Goma residents protested the presence of Rwandan security agents, there angry disputes between angry youths and local police which turned ugly as violence was everywhere.

Residents of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo are not happy with the arrival of Rwandan security agents in the region.

Many of the residents sustained several injuries and there was even a death of a policeman on Monday in Goma, which is the capital of North Kivu.
These violent disturbances led to many barricades being thrown up in the region as security forces were deployed widely to make sure the situation does not escalate.
"In our country, we have a good army and a good police force, but we don't understand why the Rwandans are going to come and secure us here in our country. Since Mobutu is president of this country he never sold this country but today we have Tshisekedi signed agreements with Rwanda for its police to come here, we refuse that," said a protester.
"We as Congolese have been suffering for a long time. We are demonstrating to say no to the arrival of Rwandan police in our country, we refuse because we have our own police force," another protester said.
As the protestors became more belligerent, the police were forced to disperse the demonstrators with tear gas canisters and live ammunition. This led to even more chaos and potential as well as actual harm to the demonstrators.
One policeman and another protester were killed and dozens of others injured, observers believe that there shall be more deaths and casualties as the situation remains tense.
On Saturday, the general commissioner of the Congolese national police denied the presence of Rwandan security agents saying no external police were in Goma.
The allegation that they are in Goma is false, he said.
