The countries represented in the meeting comprise Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, France, Italy and Netherlands.
Emmanuel Dombo, the director for communication of the NRM, while speaking on behalf of the Secretary General, said the NRM has amply demonstrated its commitment to the preservation and promotion of human rights since its inception.
“It is not our culture to mistreat and vindicate (sic) people with views and opinions that are contrary to ours,” he said.
Dombo underscored this commitment to human rights by saying all the necessary laws and institutions are in place to guard and guide the rights of all Ugandan citizens.
On the issue of food scarcity and hunger in some parts of the country such as Karamoja, Dombo said the government would tackle the twin bugbears with a resolve to end them.
“The government is well aware of the issues of hunger and food scarcity in some areas and they are tackling it. The good thing is that they have come at the time of the State of the Nation address and budget reading,” he said.
Allied to this, Dombo said the NRM is ready to uphold any issues improving cooperation and working relations between Uganda and the European Union community.
Pacifici asked the NRM government to help negate the devastating effects of climate change globally through adopting environmentally friendly policies.
