We are lucky to have Sudhir, other countries want him - Deputy Speaker

Uganda Parliament Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa, has appreciated Ruparelia Group of companies chairman Sudhir Ruparelia for being a key player in promoting Ugandan Tourism and staying dedicated to investing in Uganda.

Tayebwa made the remarks while handing Sudhir the award for "The top Tourism Player and Supporter" during the World Tourism Day Gala Dinner, which he presided over, at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Tuesday September 27, 2022.

He applauded the business Mogul for his passion for turning Uganda into a tourist destination with his array of hospitality establishments.

“In a special way, I congratulate Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman Speke Group of hotels for your Passion and Leadership in Hospitality and Tourism Development,” Tayebwa said.

According to Tayebwa, Uganda is lucky to have Sudhir, because he's investment and business acumen is wanted elsewhere but he chooses to deepen his roots in the country. That he has been approached by various states men with proposals to have Sudhir break into their countries' economies.

“I know people who have been calling Dr Sudhir to go and develop their Countries, I know many, some of them were asking me, 'but this Sudhir man what did you give him as Uganda? The man has a lot of money and we would like him to come and invest in our areas',” he revealed.

He thanked Sudhir and his team of investors for looking at Uganda as an investment, and urged Ugandans to follow his example by marketing the country wherever they go.

“This is our home, whether you want it or not we are going to be buried here,” he said.

The dinner was organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and was attended by a number of stakeholders within the tourism sector.
