Our time to lead is now – Muhoozi

Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is a General in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and also the son to President Museveni, has come out to challenge the old guard (perhaps including his father), saying the time for young people to lead Uganda is now.

Muhoozi, who said this on his official twitter account, cited examples of country leaders in the world who are young compared to some countries.

How many agree with me that our time has come? Enough of the old people ruling us. Dominating us. It's time for our generation to shine. Retweet and like?” he asked on his twitter account.

He added: “The Prime Minister of UK is 42 years old, the Prime Minister of Finland is 37 years. Some of us are hitting 50 years old. We are tired of waiting forever. We will take a stand!”

This is not the first time Muhoozi is tweeting controversial tweets. Last year, he caused tension between Uganda and Kenya when he tweeted that the UPDF would over run Nairobi in just two weeks

Most Kenyans questioned the General’s intention when he tweeted that.

In response, Museveni fired and promoted him again in the army.

Previously, he held a position as the Commander Land Forces in the UPDF. He was relieved of his duties in that position and promoted to a full general making him the first Ugandan army man to raise through the ranks to the highest rank in the army in a period of just 10 years.
