Maureen Kyasimire, an employee of Kadena, a popular pub and the lodge in Kalisizo town council, Kyotera district, was admitted to hospital in critical condition.
17-year-old girl stabbed in a bar
A 17-year-old girl was stabbed several times after a deadly fight inside a lodge.
The stabbing incident, which happened on Saturday night, left Kyasimire with multiple wounds and a suspect was arrested today
Several eyewitnesses saw Kyasimire loudly arguing with another person in the lodge before their disagreement took a turn for the worst.
The two exchanged blows before another employee joined the fight with a sharp object which she used to stab Kyasimire on the head leaving her unconscious.
While unconscious, Kyasimire was dragged out of the lodge and dumped outside as her blood expanded into a pool around her prone body.
She was rushed to Kalisizo hospital where she is receiving intensive care treatment. However, Dr. Emmanuel Ssekyeru, the Kalisizo Hospital Medical Superintendent, says that Kyasimire’s condition is improving.
Kalisizo Police station says at least one employee has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police detectives are interrogating the pub and lodge manager Thomas Mujuzi’s wife and other eyewitness.
The spate of violence in the country, which has translated into unsolved crimes, is not something new.
Earlier this year, police held one suspect in connection with the death of Hajj Rashid Kamoga Kulima.
Kulima worked as a senior human resources manager for the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) before dying in mysterious circumstances.
He was pronounced dead on December 23rd, last year.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson, said that unknown people delivered the late Kulima to the Doctors Hospital in Seguku claiming he had fallen in the bathroom.
However, the police did not find any injuries on his skull and body consistent with the injuries people get who fall in the bathroom or on the floor. This anomaly led Police to opening up investigations into the death of Kulima.
Medics at Doctors Hospital, Seguku, also informed police that the three people who had brought in a dying Kulima vanished as soon as the medics came out to attend to him.
Police investigations so far reveal that Kulima parked his vehicle at a washing bay in Buddo, Wakiso district, between 4pm and 5pm.
As the evening darkness gathered, a woman driving a Challenger vehicle arrived and picked him up. Eyewitnesses told police that both the lady and Kulima seemed to know each other and drove off in the direction of Seguku.
Owoyesigyire, without revealing the person’s name, said the female suspect who was in a relationship with the deceased was part of the three unknown persons who drove Kulima to Doctors Hospital before fleeing immediately and mysteriously.
“She was arrested over the weekend and she is currently detained at Kajjansi Police Station,” Owoyesigyire has disclosed.
“Her file will be completed and sent to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution-DPP for perusal and guidance to the police whether she will be taken to court.”
According to the police crime report of 2020, more than 4,460 people were unlawfully killed through assault, poisoning, hacking, shooting or mob action.
