Mt Moroto Region Police spokesperson, Micheal Longole, said that Oloo was detained to assist police with investigations.
‘’We have registered a case of murder by strangulation that occurred last night (Tuesday), and the husband to the deceased is in our custody at Moroto central police station to help us in investigations,” Longole said.
Eyewitnesses say that on the evening of Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the deceased had a disagreement with her husband. On the morning of the following day, a resident found her body dangling on a rope.
Since then, police detectives have visited the crime scene and recorded police statements from residents. The rope that was found around the body was also recovered.
The body was taken to Mbale Regional Refferal Hospital for postmortem. Investigations into the crime are still ongoing.
This is the second crime Oloo has been detained over at the same police station. Last year, in September, he was arrested over cattle theft in a neighbouring village of his place of residence, in Nasinyonoit.
Oloo had just returned to Moroto from Soroti where he had gone to contest the results of the January election polls. The footsteps at the scene of the crime were traced to his village.
