The IGG had been summoned to appear before COSASE on issues surrounding the wrangles as the land Commission, where she once served as minister for Lands. She was expected to answer questions regarding the mismanagement of the commission.

Earlier this year, Betty Kamya announced that she would conduct lifestyle audits on government officials whose wealth did not match their known income to which President Yoweri Museveni responded by cautioning her on the strategy, saying she should go slow as it could scare the corrupt officials from investing the stolen funds in the country and instead take it abroad.

Kamya has previously worked as Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Member of Parliament for Rubaga North Constituency, Executive Director, Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, Marketing and Promotions Manager, Uganda Breweries Ltd, Marketing Research and Development Manager, NYTIL, Commercial Manager, Uganda Leather and Tanning Industries Ltd among others.

Quick recovery, Betty Kamya.
